I have used them for Bass in West Wales before, and found them effective, but I really would like to know about the Trout side of things, many thanks for the reply though, and I will certainly try for Pike with them!! Cheers Bob

Morning Every-one, I am travelling to Holland in mid July for a couple of weeks, and expect to have a fair amount of spare time on my hands. I have coarse fished over there before, but never Fly Fished, I have searched the Net for any info, but drawn a blank, so if any of you good people has any info or contacts for Holland I would appreciate it massively!!! After our last fishing trip to Eyebrook we have stumbled on a debate about choice of leaders. In the past I have always been told to use 4-5lb for dryfly or surface work and 6-8lb for sub surface (sinking lines) straight through, but after going on a trip to Eyebrook we were informed by some fellow anglers that they fish a 10lb leader all the time. Are the advantages of this so that it lays the leader out better and reduces knots? Or does it allow your buzzers / lures to get to depth quicker (as the fish were quite well down)? are there any other advantages? and what would you recomend as a leader for reservoir fishing (especially buzzer fishing)? I know I have probably opened up a whole area of debate, but being relatively new to fly fishing I am trying to reduce my chances of knots and tangles but also for best presentation to the fish. Eyebrook was hard work!! to say the least, there was Damsels hatching off all over the place, and possibly 25 boats out as well as a couple from the shore. In our group there were 15 anglers and we returned a total of 15 fish!! so quite a few blanks, including me!!(oh well) The water was inordinately warm, and the guys that caught were on very deep buzzers fished VERY slow, and a couple on Orange Blobs , stripped fast! We tried all over the water, but the dam wall area was the most prolific, and it appears the same was true for the other guys that were out yesterday!! Farmoor next in July, fingers crossed. Cheers

Have you considered a Strike Fly, or a Booby, it would give you the added advantage of an odd fish possibly taking it?
