  1. steve Have been following this thread since it started and i totally agree with you the guys are totally ripping themselves apart Ive not seen anything like it!! at a time whene we should be regrouping behind the people who negotiate on behalf of SACN all thats happening from some quarters is they are getting slagged off for doing the best they can!!! youve got to remember these guys are up against proffesionals both in the goverment and the commercial lobby and considering that i think they did as good a job as anybody else could thats on this forum so come on lads lets have some unity alright we never got the 45 but theres plenty more we can get IF we all stick together looking forwards with an openmind to how you propose how RSAs and COMMERCIALS can work this one out Bryan
  2. Can any of you east coast boat anglers advise on a good rod for pirking/shadding?? what lenght and testcurve??? kind regards Bryan
  3. Im with you Leon your right 4 years ago this would have been unimaginable!!!!! i am a salmon fisherman as well as a bassman and we didnt give up like some of these moaners after the 1st knockback after years of lobbying, fund raising and intence negotiating with the netsmen and goverments they have eventually removed nearly every commercial net from greenland to our coast and now it looks like the irish driftnet fishery is under pressure to stop in 2007.so it can be done .you just dont lay down at the 1st hurdle. IMO the GOLDEN MILE is the next target to aim at .its the cowboys with there gillnets the anglers who fish for profit and not for sport and in my area the holiday makers who fish the outflow of the powerstation and cart immature bass off in carrierbags to sell for there spending money. So come on lads get behind Leon youve got this far and i know its been a real setback but thers still alot of worthwile things to fight for. Bryan
  4. Ive been wandering around the fish counters in the local supermarkets and have noticed that most of the fish i know have the lable caught in the north east atlantic on them!! I know where areas for ne atlantic shipping forcast are but what is classed as the ne atlantic fishing area?? The reason i ask is ASDA had MARLIN steaks as caught in the ne atlantic !!! when i pointed it out to the guy on the counter he couldnt believe it either!!! Kind regards Bryan
  5. Hello wurzel why do you need compensation to tide us over for a couple of years when QUOTE from MikeC on June 18th 2006 Well done tescos bass are plentifuland are increasing in size.I can prove that look at my bank balance and my car!!!!! He obviously fishes in a different area to you where bass are superplentiful. kind regards BRY
  6. steve as a commercial bass fisherman what is so fundamentally wrong with tha BMP that commercials could not back it???? If i remember right it was bigger and more bass for both RSAs and commercial fishermen!!!! If we had both backed it your right it would have sailed through no probs kind regards BRY
  7. sorry im new to forums wont happen again apologies to Steve didnt mean to shout kind regards Bry
  8. STEVE IF BB DECIDES TO GO WITH THE BMP(I WISH)AND WE END UP WITH BAG LIMITS FOR BASS PER ANGLER WONT THIS CUT OUT THE ABOVE AND THUS ENHANCE THE PRICE OF THE MORE AND BIGGER BASS YOU WILL CATCH? THATS ASSUMING THAT BECAUSE OF THE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF BASS AFTER THE IMPLEMENTATION THAT NONE OF THESE ANGLERS WITH GOOD JOBS BY A LICIENCE AND TURN TO ROD AND LINE FISHERMEN AND SELL THERE CATCH AS OPPOSED TO SPORTFISHERMEN WHO DONT!!! I CANT GET MY HEAD ROUND WHY YOU OPPOSE ALL ARGUMENTS FOR THE BMP WHEN IN THE LONG RUN EVERYBODY IS GOING TO GAIN FROM IT INCLUDING YOU COMMERCIAL LADS.IF WE COULD ALL SING FROM THE SAME SONG SHEET WHAT A FORCE WE COULD BE!!! KIND REGARDS BRY
  9. HELLO ALL THIS IS MY FIRST REAL ATTEMPT AT A FORUM SO FORGIVE ME IF IT TURNS T*TS UP. IVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS THREAD FOR SOME TIME AND CAN SEE PEOPLE ARE REALLY GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH THE MLS/BASS PLAN SITUATION. DONT GIVE UP ON IT . I AM A SALMON FISHERMAN BUT FIND MYSELF FISHING FOR THE BASS MORE AND MORE. IT WAS DOOM AND GLOOM IN THE SALMON WORLD IN THE70S THRO TO THE LATE 90S WHAT WITH UDN,THE GREENLAND AND FAROES LONGLINE FISHERIES THEN CLOSER TO HOME THE NORTH EAST AND THE IRISH DRIFT NET FISHERIES AND FINALLY THE ESTUARY NETS HAD FINALLY REDUCED THE SALMON ON THIS AND THE OTHERSIDE OF THE ATLANTIC TO AN ENDANGERED SPECIES.IM AFRAID IT TOOK THE SITUTION TO GET TO THIS LEVEL BEFORE PEOPLE STARTED TO GET THERE ACT TOGETHER AND A ALLIANCE CALLED THE NORTH ATLANTIC SALMON FUND (NASF) WAS FORMED.IT IS HEADED BY AN ICLANDIC GUY CALLED ORRI VIGGFUSSON. THIS GUY WHO HAS RIGHTLY BECOME IN MY EYES THE SAVIOUR OF ATLANTIC SALMON HAS ALONG WITH THE OTHER SALMON CONSERVATION SOCIETYS TURNED THE SITUATION AROUND TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT IT IS NOTHING SHORT OF A MINOR MIRICLE.IN A RELITIVLY SHORT TERM HE GOT EVERY BODY IN THE SALMON ANGLING WORLD SINGING FROM THE SAME SONG SHEET .THEN WITH FUND RAISING AND SERIOUS POLITICAL LOBBYINGAND,DIRECTLY TALKING TO THE COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN HE HAS REDUCED THE GREENLAND AND FAROES FISHERIES TO SUBSISTANCE LEVELS. HE THEN ALONG WITH DEFRA TALKED TO THE NORTHEAST OF ENGLAND SALMON COMMERCIAL LADS AND GOT THEM TO SELL OUT THERE LICIENCES SO THER ARE ONLY ABOUT 8 NETS NOW OUT OF ABOUT 50 AND NOW FINALLY AFTER INTENCE LOBBYING AT THE EU AND THE IRISH GOVERMENT HAS GOT THEM TO SUSPEND THERE GILLNET FISHERY WHICH TOOK 500 000 SALMON PER YEAR.SORRY TO GO ON BUT IT JUST SHOWS WHAT CAN BE DONE IF PEOPLE STICK TOGETHER AND FIGHT FOR A CAUSE THAT THEY TRULY BELEIVE IN.SO DONT GIVE UP LADS EVEN IF YOU DO GET SETBACKS.KEEP IN THERE THE MLS/BASS PLAN IS WORTH FIGTHING FOR.
