  1. Try here http://www.riverside-lakes.co.uk/
  2. I've still got a couple my father-in-law made 50 years ago. Instead of clipping the bottom flush he would cut it 80% through and cut the fillet off to leave a thin tail hanging down about 1" on one side. Turn this tail up and whip it to the body on the other side and he'd have a ready made eye. I'll have to see if they still float. Rob
  3. Try Whitemoor Lake at Holt, near Wimborne. It's a decent commercial and you can pay on the bank.
  4. On my golf course we have a large heronry The herons quite often ignore both the Dorset Stour and plentitude of well stocked lakes, to do their 'fishing' in the rough. They can be regularly seen, flying off with a squeaking vole in their beaks.
  5. Heat up a tin of hot dogs and take them in your flask with some finger rolls. Brilliant cold weather fodder.
  6. Have a look here Gary. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.p...amp;hl=weymouth It looks very much like the lake over Tylers shoulder. The carp under the bushes love floating cat mixers. Rob
  7. If you're starting out, why not try your local car boot sales. Lot's of guys get rid of their stuff there when they want to buy the latest 'sooper dooper catch 'em all' gear. Get there early though else all the Eastern Euros will have snapped it up. BTW. Look for alternatives too. I bought a new Adidas exercise mat for £2 from a booty. Beats the prices you'd pay for an un-hooking mat anywhere. Being bright blue it didn't attract the attention of the Camo tackle tarts.

I work as a Ranger on Canford Magna golf club and constantly look for fish in the Dorset Stour that runs alongside our Riverside course. One day I spotted a turtle as big as a dinner plate, sunning itself on a lily pad. It moved off smartish when it spotted me above. I reported it to the Environment Agency but I could tell that the woman I was speaking to didn't believe a word. The Riverside course was built on the floodplain and it regularly floods in winter (though this is the first year it's ever flooded in July!) After one flooding, when the water had nearly cleared, a fellow Ranger was inspecting the course when he found what must have been the same turtle, groggily surviving in a flooded bunker. He gave it to the owner,s wife who nursed it back to full health. Whereabouts now unknown. Rangers 1 - Environment Agency 0
  9. Just got home and still dry. Had a great day and plenty in the net, biggest was 11lbs. All of them were in great condition and fighting fit. Met the owner who was most surprised to hear he's on the net, especially as he uses the forum but only for sea fishing. A real nice guy who really wants to encourage kids and families rather than 'serious' anglers. It's a bit of a schlep for me but I'll certainly be back. Rob
  10. Cheers for the heads-up Jon. Gonna give it a try tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting. Bit of a trek from Poole to get soaked! Rob
  11. Hi Ajay I've just started fishing again after many years off so am happy to try anything that gets me fish. Recently I have been catching carp & silvers in a commercial fishery at Horton Heath but wanted a. a bit more variety & b. I'd like to be able to bag up & see the results at the end of the day so use of a keepnet would be nice. I use the pole, float rod and feeder at present until I make up my mind which way to go. Am I correct in believing that there is more close season waters available through RDAA than CAC? Rob
  12. I live in Poole and want to join a club but which one. As far as I can see, it's a toss up between Ringwood or Christchurch ACs. Ringwood have a good website and I can see all their waters but I don't seem to be able to get the same info. about Christchurch. Anyone help me out please?
  13. Do the car boot sales. Always some good bargains going there.
  14. Try these people.Looks like they do any size and £20 seems fair http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1
  15. I've got a Shimano reel that needs repair. I've tried to fix it without luck so far and it's not worth getting it done professionally. I'd just like to do it for my own satisfaction. Is there a repair manual for reels that anyone knows about? Tia Rob
