  1. nice mr wiggly, that looks great. i installed lightroom, i used the original pic in it and with some fiddling it did get rid of the red boarders, but its faster by hand in photoshop, and, also, as well, i dont think my machine is up to running lightroom, seems to take ages to load ages to do anything really lolol, i will be sticking with photo shop cs2.
  2. here are some shots i took yesterday, went walking along the river usk, nothing nice to see in the river but the plants where ok. kerry taking pics of tree`s for this one i set the focus to the left hand side of the screen and used f 3.5 and shutter speed of 1/10 to keep the background out of focus some white blobby things f2.7 speed 1/160 some leaves f3.5 speed 1/250 and a spikey thing f4.5 speed 1/40 and these two shots from the other day, because of the dof and the angle, they just dont look real.
  3. nice judy, the last one is really nice, has a very clean punchy edge like it.just thought i would pop this in here, its from last night..
  4. Hi all took lots of shots of the moon this evening, i think this was probably the best one, took it a 12x zoom, with the camera i use when there is lots of contrast and your at a long zoom you tend to get Chromatic aberration red in my case, in this pic i have edited it out by hand, i have photoshop cs2, but i have read about lightroom, lightroom looks like it can sort it out with a few clicks anyone use lightroom. anyway what do you think.
  5. very nice, where was that taken chesters.
  6. Hi all If you have a Canon camera that lacks simple things like Live histogram (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel) Zebra mode (blinking highlights and shadows) DOF-calculator Battery indicator (my S3 IS doesn’t have one so this was a godsend for me) Scripts execution (exposure/focus/... bracketing, intervalometer and more) File browser Text reader Calendar Some fun tools and games But best of all the ability to shoot in Raw, Motion Detection, stereo photography and lots more. And you have one of the following models A610, A630, A640, A700, A710 IS, S2 IS, S3 IS, G7. Then here is a little hack for you it’s called CHDK and it a little program that you put on your memory card that boots up on load, I’ve been using it for a while now and the ability just to have a Battery indicator is great but to be able to shoot in raw and have motion detection is excellent, I’m well impressed so if you want to read about it go here CHDK Wiki and go here to download the file relevent to your camera downloads If you have a Canon Powershot S3-IS i have uploaded them so you dont have to go hunting the site, just hit the link and click download, its my storage so you dont need to sign up. this is the original with all the above features (loads fast) CHDK Canon S3 IS and this one is exactly the same plus the motion detection, stereo, usb triger and lots more (loads a fraction slower on your camera but more features) CHDK + Motion detection. here is a quick guide to get it all running on your camera, this is based on the Canon S3-IS but its the same for most models. 1) Goto downloads . 2) find the hack that has your camera model in the file name and download it 3) unzip or unrar it to your computer just remember where it is. 4) put your SD card in your card reader 5) copy the files to your sd card. the files go into the root folder of the card i.e the window you first see when you open the card 6) Put the SD card back into your camera 7) Turn on your camera in playback mode 8) open up the menu 9) scroll down to firmwire update 10) update to version 1.0.1.0 or what ever the relevent number is 11) Go back to shoot mode. with the above method, you will have to reload the file ecah time you want to use it, cary on to step 12 to have the file load each time you turn on your camera, doesnt add to load times. 12) press the shortcut button (the one with the blue light) (depends on your camera) (you can change this later, to a button you dont use very often in normal mode. 13) now you will be in the <ALT> mode, press menu this will open the <ALT> menue 14) scroll down to the debug option and press the set button 15) scroll down to make card bootable and hit set 16) turn off your camera 17) take out the sd card 18) toggle the lock swtich to the locked postion, dont worry this will still let you take pics Honest 19) re-insert the sd card into your camera Now whenever you turn on the camera the hack will autoload. Please note when i say <ALT> it referse to alternative menue mode the first thing i did was changed the <ALT>(for entering the <ALT> mode) button from shortcut to the flash button, as its the button i use least. heres how. 1) press shortcut button, to enter <ALT> mode 2) press menue, 3) scroll down to miscellaneous stuff, 4) scroll down to <ALT> mode button 5) and click set button until you see the desred button(you can have flash/timer/iso/video or shortcut) 6) press menue again, this will now be the button you use to enter <ALT> mode. 7) press the <ALT> button again (for me the Flash button) this will put the camera back into normal mode. to shoot in raw, 1) just press the <ALT> button(flash/shortcut, or whatever you changed it to) to enter <ALT> mode 2) press menue 3) highlight select raw perameters. 4) click set. 5) highlight choose save raw. 7) click set (a dot will appear showing you are now in raw mode. 8) click menue 9) press the <ALT> button, this sets you back into normal mode. you are now shooting in raw you will need a converter so photoshop can recognise the raw format, ive been using DNG converter, and i have also uploaded that so you can get it from here. Motion Detection to use the motion detection, make sure you have this version installed on your camera CHDK + Motion detection. first of all set up your camera ie get your shot ready for your shot as you normally would. 1) press <ALT> button. 2) press menue. 3) scroll down to scripting perameters. 4)press set button. 5)scroll to load script from file. 6) press set. 7) scroll down to MD_TEST2.BAS 8) press set. 9) press menue (there are lots of options on that screen to alter but, we will go with the preset ones for now.) now with your cam ready to go, preferably on a tripod or table top, (i will be using this trying to get some lightning and stuff like that) press the shutter button fully, you will see *** STARTED *** now, as soon as something moves infront of the camera it will start taking shots, a high speed card works alot better for this, im using a sandisk extreme lll 1gb but its not esential. To stop it press the shutter button again, you will see *** INTERUPTED *** press the <ALT> button to enter normal mode, and enter play mode to view your pics. bingo well i will leave it there for now thats enought to be getting on with. there are loads of things you can do with this, you can run scripts that do all sorts of things, just have a mess about and see what you come up with, you cant harm your camera as its just a program not a hardware hack, if you want to get rid of it at any time, download all your pics, and then format the card on your camera, and hey presto your back to the original camera. Anyway enjoy, if you need any help give me a shout, I’m no expert with it, but if I can help I will. also if ive made any mistakes give me a shout, but i think its all ok......pheeeeeyeeew....fingers need a rest now. all the best hope you have fun with this.
  7. sorry but i missed this, speedy recovery Ken.
  8. i have three of these reel`s , 2 50`s and a 30, ive had them all for some time now, and havnt had your particular problem, one thing that ocasionally happens to me, but only on the 50`s is the baitrunners some times dont lock on, i find myself fiddling with the reel handle and then reseting it, the thirty on the other hand has worked like a dream since ive had it, as far as i can remember.
  9. i have three of these reels, 2 50i have three of th

  12. Hi all been doing a website for a mate of mine, Poseidon-Offshore i have set up a timeline animation at the top, a set of rotating images, now, thats all well and good, but i have just restarted dreamweaver to add more images, loaded the index page, the timeline bar is there at the bottom of the screen, but has no content ie no objects or frames just an empty(what looks like new) timeline, how can i get my animation timeline back is it just a setting(cant find one) that is hiding it all ?????? please help.
  13. not a perfect pic by any means, but this little fella was singing his head off, so i rushed in got my camera and managed to grab this before he flew off, the sky was washed out completely, so i used a layer mask, and gradient tool, on the two sections of sky just to make it a bit more contrasting.
  14. My new camera turned up this morning (canon S3IS) weather was wet, so couldnt get out to have a play, but did have a mess with the zoom this evening, im well impressed, the transporter bridge is around three miles from my house, i gave it a nice long exposeure to highlight er the lights lol, and managed to get some nice car light trails as well, i need to have a play to sort out noise and all that but for the first day i think im very happy with it. this is from the narrow angle of the lens from my front door this evening. this is at the wide angle of the lens from the same spot, just to show how far away the bridge actually is.
  15. ive just found this one too, look at the second pic down, it looks like a panda`s head noshing on some bamboo lololol Panda
  16. Hi den im pretty sure its an Elephant Hawk-moth, (Deilephila elpenor) here is a link Elephant Hawk-moth
  17. thank you all i went to town yesterday, only to find both shops couldnt get hold of canon to get a price, out of desperation, i decided to go for the fuji, again both shops where out of stock, pheeeeyeeew, i did Newts toss a coin method, and it came up with the fuji, kerry said my face wasnt jumping with joy, so i realised it must be the canon i really wanted, so ive ordered it from here , spoke to them just now on the phone and it will be with me monday morning, just intime for my birthday, again thanks all for helping me make what has turned out to be a very hard decision.
  18. lolol. cheer phil, actually the canon is the smaller camera and has 12x and IS, the fuji is huge like a D-SLR and has 10x but has a manual focus and zoom, wich i must admit i really do like, im so confused ive been at this for weeks arrrgggg lolol
  19. hi all i really need your help, i am on a very limited budget and have cut my wishlist down to the Fuji S6500fd or the canon Powershot S3IS, (birthday pressie for me from my boys, on Monday). i have had a mess with both machines, and love bits from both, the manual zoom and focus are great on the S6500fd, and the image stabilization, and 12x on the canon look good to, i would say images are on a par with each other, if i could have the manual zoom and focus and image stabilization all on one machine this would be great, not really sure how important face detection is but it seems to work well when i tested it in the shop, any way, i really need some help deciding i noticed in practical photography the S6500fd only gets 3 out of five, and recommends saving up for a entry level D-SLR,(what did the canon get) but i wont be doing that i really don't want to be messing with lenses, so its definitely a bridge camera i am after, any help would be most helpful. Cheers in advance Gray
  20. i can normally right a yarn or two, tonight i cant, thank you all so much love gray and kerry and my boys thank you
  21. hello all sorry to burden you all with this, on sunday night my nephew Wesley was beaten to death, while helping out another lad that was being attacked, Wes was 25 years old and left a very young son behind, he loved his fishing, and loved life, Wes lived with me and kerry my three boys and his older brother kai, till he was around 16 he was a son to us, i dont know what else to say.
  22. i know exactly what your saying, i had this one on the biblins on the river wye yesterday very deceptive it is, i wont say how big it was but i undrestimated its size.
  23. Thanks alot folks, i think ive made my mind up, i will go for the s6500fd, the camera im using at the moment is a samsung s500, a really good compact, with lots of manual control lots of f`s and iso`s to play with, but ive out grown it already as i knew i would, but it was all i could afford at the time and has served me very well. i have seen the S6500fd as low as £157(online), but without a bundle, and for the extra £40 i get a nice leather padded case, and the 512 card, so im going to go with that, unless someone comes up with something else any more input most welcome. its going to be a few weeks before i get it but i will let you know how i get on. again thanks folks.
