  1. yes, this was a good one i really enjoyed it, congrats to the finalists.
  2. cheers steve, i will have a look at it asap, feel a right plonker now, hopefully i will get it sorted. i put the save qual at 12 as this is what i use, and as most people use an external host for there pics i didnt think this would be to much problem. but if you sugest a level that is acceptable i will go with that. the constrain proportions box is also left unticked on purpose, as i made the action to be used after all editing is done, and specifically put up in the photo challenge. again though, if would be mmore usable with it in use then i will go with that. goto to do sunday familly thing right now, but i will look at it as soon as i get back.
  3. hi all i have created an action script that will hopefully save you a bit of time, this action will, (after you have done all your adjustments) resize your image to 800x600 and save it to your C:\Documents and Settings folder. you can download the action HERE! click the download button and save it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Photoshop Actions thats the hard bit out of the way. now run CS2 load your picture, adjust your levels and stuff, here come the good bit, press Ctrl, shift and F2 all at the same time, and bingo, check your C:\Documents and Settings folder, you will see a file called "your file name here.jpg" you can now rename it to whatever you like and upload to AN for the challenge. i really hope this is usefull for some of you, i will do some more, if you want something in particular and havnt got time to create it, give me a shout and will see what i can do.
  4. these are funny little addins that the programers hide in the program for fun, please add more here if you know any MERLIN LIVES 1. Open Photoshop. 2. Open the Layers|Channels|Paths window (at least one of them) 3. Press the ALT key and hold it down. 4. Click the right-arrow options button in the top-right of the Layers window, but hold the mouse button down or the menu will disappear. 5. Still holding down both the ALT key and the left mouse button, move your mouse over "Palate Options...", and let go of the mouse. 6. Merlin! you can also see lots of little merlins if you open the layers>palet options. SPACE MONKEY 1. Open Adobe Photoshop of any version, or Image Ready. 2. Press on Help, and click on About while pressing Ctrl. 3. See the new about dialog. "space monkey" was the code name for CS2, if i remember corectly version 4 was called "big electric cat" 5-5.5 was called "strange cargo" 6 was called "venus in furs" 7 was "liquid sky" and 8 (CS) was called "dark matter" (Every versions of Photoshop, and Image Ready has a difference dialog, and image. Photoshop, and Image ready has a different image, but has the same theme.) . you will see some very strange entries, including a thank you, to you, for being the best customer!!!!!!! Have Fun
  5. Judy must be something in the air, lots of cheeky jackdaws around at the moment, wrong que i think Den Beatufull picture, spot on.
  6. have you got Photoshop Den, if so, its easy, load your pic, then go to Filter>Render>Lens Flare, a window will open, you will have a slider and some lens types, have a mess about, you will have a preview screen, and you will see a cross, you can move that around(left click it, and Drag, let go), you can get some pretty realistick lens flares and light reflections, have fun. Hope this helps
  7. This is a little bit under your spec, its a samsung digimax s500 ive been using one for a while now, not great but not terrible either you can get them for about £70 cheaper if you look, i found this one on ebay, 1 day 19 hours left 1 bid of 99p so far worth watching. its a small light camera, 5.1 MP, 3x optical 5 digital, 2.4" screen, ISO 50-400 manual control, manual white balance, F control, lots of manual stuff on it, and of course full auto, 5cm macro setting, takes sd cards i have posted a few pics on here, in the comps and a few other posts, so you can check it out if you like, here it is on ebay any way Samsung Digimax S500
  8. refering to your above question Den, Its a size thing im afraid, if i take a pic on my camera at full quality that gives me a picture size of 2560x1920 and that equals 4915200 pixels, if you then reduce this to 800x600 that only equals 480000 pixels, so its inevitable that some detail is going to be lost in all that quishing up.
  9. great stuff mate, glad to be of help.
  10. Any Joy Jedi ??? did you get the disk.
  11. Cheers Peter i will give that a try, just as soon as i get get rid of this stinking cold, that i probably picked up while out taking those pics lolol

  13. you can always ajust the font size, right click the desktop this opens display properties>appearance, then bottom tab Font size, and for IE view>text size. Hope this helps
  14. Cheers Peter unfortunatly i havnt got that much control over the camera, (8 down to 1/1500 seconds, in 28 steps) is my limit, and at that setting i only get two F options for each level of zoom, ie the palm was taken with a focal length of 12mm 8 second exposure ISO 400 exposure comp 0, and this gives me the option of either F3.9 (which i used) or F9.8. i have control over ISO 50-400, F, Exposure, White Balance(shutter measure) ang rgb. it a samsung digimax s500(compact). actually looking at the camera now, the camera has three times optical zoom, in 8 steps, here is what i get for each level of zoom. 2.8 and 7.1 3.0 and 7.7 3.3 and 8.4 3.6 and 9.1 3.9 and 9.8 4.2 and 10.6 4.6 and 11.5 4.9 and 12.4 any help would be most greatfull
  15. Well done Joel, great photograph, perfect.
  16. After jackpikes thread about his site, i was wondering how rare 800x600 really is, Gozzer is still using it, so there are probably more, go on do the poll it only takes a second. i have included the common and not so common just to get a picture of what we are all up to. i havnt gone into graphics cards as it will just get to confusing, well, for me at least both questions are Multiple choice so you can tick more than one option. i use Dual monitor setup, running 1280x960 on a 17 inch LCD and 1024x768 on a 15inc LCD, so ive ticked options 2 and 6 in question 1, and 2, 4 and 13 in question 2, easy right erm edit, not so easy, i made a mistake, i use 1280x1024 lololol, didnt realise i did till i saw dens post and went about seing if i could give him a fix
