  1. Thanks Terry I went back there yesterday to get another look, took some bread definitely a good head of Roach in there some large looking fish from the bridge, couple of chub cruising by 1-2lb mark and also a pretty big Pike. I'm probs gonna have a go at it this weekend
  2. Bump, Anyone know of this stretch? I know a few Anglers Net Posters are around this area
  3. Would be good to hear how you get on, I've been there many times as my Dad has a caravan in Cherry Tree park thats the fishery opposite right? I'm up there in August for two weeks with the wife and kids so may go over there for a day or two myself! Only ever fished the main lake though assuming i'm talking about the right place
  4. Hi All, Been a while since I posted as haven't been out on the bank much! been out honing my Golf skills instead, however the bug has caught me again today! I work in Newport Pagnell and quite often take a lunch time stroll through the town and into the grave yard back to work, the river runs right next to the graveyard but I've never seen anyone fishing that stretch so assumed it wasn't open to fishing, however today I stumbled across a guy and his son fishing it, they were getting some good hits from chub and had a few barbel runs, on asking which club run it etc he advised it was a free stretch on the grave yard and up to the manor. Anyone aware of this? have you fished it and had much success? would be great to hear from anyone in the know Thanks in advance
  5. We went there for my Son's 12th B'day 2 weeks ago! Couldn't tell you anything about the lake other than it looks ok, albeit a relatively large water. Let us know how you get on if you do decide to fish it!
  6. There seems to be a few on AN from Beds or Bucks. Dr C I forgot to mention after your original post, Unfortunately I don't work for Aston although it is a dream haha just for the Co car. And I was getting mixed up Toddington is a seperate fishery to Tingrith, Tingrith is very good and worth the visit if you get the chance. I popped to Toddington last week have never fished it and seems a bit slow at the moment although I was Considering a session there this Sunday!
  7. Thanks for the links Andy much appreciated. I agree on the MKAA club seems like a much better idea. I've also been looking at the Great Linford lakes membership whish is very reasonable however I think they have adopted a one out one in policy. Thanks again
  8. Hey Dr Claw, Lovely Fish and well done!! I work in Newport Pagnell and am very interested in understanding how I join the clubs to fish the rivers and which stretches are fished etc. I also noticed you have fished Tingrith from your other photo's which lake did you try looks like orchard but couldn't tell exactly. I live in Luton so any info about clubs particularly for the Rivers would be appreciated. Thanks Beds
  9. An amazing insight! where was this filmed? the little fish with the spots almost look like a cichlid species
  10. Some of those records are quite funny and with some persistance I think could quite easily be broken, I may even have a go at the Stickleback record when i'm next on the Lea with the kids and the nets lol!!
  11. Mainly Maulden "Waterend fisheries" if I only have 2-3 hours spare, if a full day is available then i'll go to Tingrith. I'm looking for a change of venues so would be grateful if you are aware of anything else in the Beds area?
  12. Hey peeps, Got out again at the weekend and went with the leger method (I'm new to legering have always Float fished previously) Its been tough because I failed miserably with Hair rigs and Luncheon meat the first time I tried this type of fishing!! Anyway using strawberry bollies I had success two screaming runs!!!! However......No fish landed! on the first the main line snapped and I lost my complete rig and on the second occasion I succumbed to a dodgy knot on the swivel!!!! Nevermind live and learn eh! Before I go out next time I'll invest in brand new main line at least 12lb BS (any suggestions?) and some more ready made hair rigs. I was just happy to get the runs to be honest it gives me the confidence to use the method again Oh and I will pratice knot tying every night hahaha
  13. Thanks Guys, I'll the hair stops when I get home they were spears to be exact not sure of make though! I have to say though the meat was staying on pretty well because it was there everytime I wound in without bites but gone everytime following a bite! I think possibly the chunks I were using were to large as the hook was resting on the meat and not necessarily sitting next to it. Also to have the fish hook themselves I take it I use a heavier feeder or weight? any suggestions on the weight? I'll change bait and try boilies next time see if the bait makes the difference
  14. Hi All, I had my first go at Feeder fishing and hair rigs Sunday unfortunately had no success. I bought ready tied Hairs on size 10 spade hooks 15inch nylon lengths, the feeder was then attached to the main fishing line with the Hair rig attached via a loop on the main line. Length of the feeder from the loop was a 7 inches, so 8 inches length difference between Feeder and hook. I was getting some big takes using the heaviest tip indicator obviously carp but everytime bait was gone and nothing on! I was fishing Luncheon meat and using large chunks around the inch squared size but I couldn't work out firstly why the fish weren't hooking themselves (Although understand this could be due to the weight of the feeder) or was I reacting to slow they were getting the bait and spitting the hook out? I had at least 6-7 takes like that so can't believe they were all line bites. After 5 hours of misses I ditched the feeder and went back to the trusty float which has seen me good for my fishing career so far. problem is I have bought the feeder rod I really like it but have lost confidence in my ability to fish this way Help appreciated!
  15. Hi guys, Noob question again, with Drag on a reel does "more drag" mean the fish can pull line off when on a run easier? I've been losing a few carp recently and noticed when the carp run it backwinds on the reel as opposed to using the drag, does that make sense? I think my drag it setup wrong but i'm not sure how it should be setup Thanks in advance for your help
