Hi all, Anyone know where I can get the dates and firing times for Dodmans point? Not sure if I want it for show or just to keep out of the way. Cheers, Chaz

Adam, I know the bass are picking up and have heard macks are starting to appear. I haven't been out for a while but may be going Sun/Mon or Tues, not sure which coast though. Good luck if you go out. Cheers, Chaz

Hi Steve, I have fished port gav numerous times, nothing huge but plenty of variety, once had 7 species in one session. only fished from the shore from there but hope to get out on the yak from there this summer. Have you paddled from there? Cheers, Chaz

Chris, your tarpon does those speeds with you paddling, speed depends alot on the paddler, style, strength, endurance etc. I have an OK p13 but haven't a clue on speeds, I'm not that bothered, its not a racing kayak so as long as I can get to where I want to go then thats me satisfied. Cheers, Chaz

yes Steve, pollock, bass all the usual summer species, where abouts are you looking to go? Cheers, Chaz

yes we did, I have been down there several times now as well as caerhayes , just around the corner. haven't failed to catch so must be a good area for me. We'll have to meet up again sometime. by the way, are you still wearing the same scalp protection or got yourself a proper hat yet? Cheers, Chaz

Evening Nigel, are you looking at just South Devon or Cornwall as well. Plenty from both, and usually less swell than up here. Cheers, Chaz

Hi GB, Why are you selling it?, if you don't mind me asking. I would think its the best ride you've got looking at the rest of your fleet. Cheers, Chaz

Hi Ian, Chris, Hope alls well with you and your families, I was thinking of taking a quick trip down south next weekend. Won't be expecting too many fish (not sure whats catching down there at the moment) Shout when the weathers good enough and time permits, Cheers, Chaz

Merry Christmas to you all from the North Coast. Conditions have been too rough recently but I am hoping for an estuary trip soon. Will give you a bell soon Nigel. Hope Santa brings what you wish for. Cheers, Chaz

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll be sticking to ankle type boots to go with my sidewinders. Hi Chris, good to hear your thinking of next year already. I have spent quite a few hours on the net looking at possible sites, just got a lot of driving to do!!! hope all's well at your end, Chaz

Following a recent trip my feet suffered really badly. On the water all was ok, it was later on shore, totally numb, like blocks of ice even after dragging my transport back up a hill to the car park. I am still wearing wet suit boots (4mm) which I now realise have no protection against the cold ground. I have seen the threads about jobe jet ski boots, would they give better protection against cold ground and would I need to have neoprene socks inside? Cheers, Chaz

Hi Jon, Your not wrong there, weather was good, just the ride a bit bumpy at times (still trying to get used to spotting bites (small ones) when the swells up), as for c&r, yet to keep any from the yak yet!! Cheers, Chaz

Managed a short trip to Gorran Haven on Sunday (unexpected night shift off) The surf report the previous evening said flat, on the drive down the radio said 1-2 foot. On arrival had a quick look and seemed about right. 20 minutes later after getting sorted and changed, it looked a bit bigger, maybe 2-3 foot!! Uneventfull launch (thought it might be my first dunking!), first 40+ yards had waves breaking over the bow. The fishing was fine, a couple of pollock of about 2lb each to rag, the smallest bass I've ever caught (not sure if it was bigger than the whole squid on 4/0 hook), and a personal first, a red gurnard, only 12" long but didn't stop wriggling from taking the bait to release (fantastic colouring and display of fins). All fish released (hope the bass made it back to a nursery, and the pollock bigger for next summer). I was only out for about 2.5-3 hours but at times the rocks in the middle of the bay disappeared with the swell picking up. The paddle back was great fun, surfing the big swells (kept the ticker going!!). Did have a problem with cold feet but will post another thread about that. Cheers, Chaz

Nasher, where are you from? maybe going out with an established kayak/fisher or what about marine charts to show features? Cheers, Chaz
-
Thanks for the replies Pav and Paul, I was going to do as suggested, footwork finding marks, asking local boats and charts then input the data into the unit, just needed to know if I could put my track/marks back onto the PC to view and keep as reference. Thanks again, Cheers, Chaz

Hi, Looking to get a cheap gps unit and have been looking at the etrex. Is it OK as a basic unit? Also does anybody use it with a PC? is it compatible with any marine charts? Cheers, Chaz
