mouth breeders?

 

does that mean we hook them in their wedding tackle???

 

not nice.

 

they had a carp in the northern spanish lakes they called freshwater sharks, they looked like carp to me from a distance, so I guess they were carp with teeth.

 

they were in water which comfortably held perch and roach so I assume may survive over here.

:D:D:D Interesting thought - Where is a fishes wedding tackle??

By mouth breeder I mean that they carry their young in their mouth, allowing them out to forage, but always hovering to take them back in her mouth if danger approaches.

Because of this, they breed well as I have never seen a mother with young caught!

 

Yes - they do have big mouths (like large mouth Bass)

For me I think Arapaima or Mekong Catfish. I caught some last year in Thailand, great fun.

 

Bass wound be nice, as never had the chance to fish for them.

Which fish would you most like to introduce to you local lake/river?

 

The Bluegill and Redear. Found abundantly in the US. Part of the Sunfish family (as are the Largemouth Bass). Pound for pound I'd put them up against anything "fight wise" they scrap all the way to the net... the small ones are easy to catch (fun for the kids)

the big ones are a challenge to catch consistantly. They make for incredible float fishing which also makes it much more fun for the kids.

Always fancied a go at those Longfinned Eels in New Zealand, imagine a 20lb Eel at 2 o'clock in the morning at your local water.

 

Now that sounds like fun to me!

I've been told that the crumpetus naturalis can often be found where theres lots of undergrowth.

Also the crumpetus redheadus type is notoriously moody but feisty when hooked ;)
