There's a rumour flying around that Subaru are about to pull out, too. I should find out later today

Only to be expected really, motorsport uses cash at a phenomenal rate and I expect all branches of the sport will be hit hard over the next few months, F1, WRC, probably BTCC too and a lot of privateers will be thinking where this years sponsorship money may be coming from.

Not just the privateers, Snotty. SEAT are already out of the BTCC.

 

Looks like Cross Country Running may become the new motorsport.

 

Mind you, those trainers ain't half expensive!

That's a blow. I'm not entirely surprised, though, given their marketing direction - with the new Impreza, Subaru has tried to move more to the mainstream. They didn't initially mean to sell the wrx in the UK, but UK dealers put a lot of pressure on them. I think they see the market for high performance road cars under increasing pressure from legislation and tax, particularly in Europe, and if you aren't in that market there's not much point being in rallying.
