Winter Bream

Strange that it may seem, on my local "big carp" waters, quite a lot of the bigger double figure bream get caught in the coldest part of the year. This may be due to the carp being much less active, and the bream getting in on the baits. It has puzzled me why so many of the Wingham members seem to give up on the bream as soon as the autumn comes.

I have had the same experience with bream on a carp water, it was a cold bright frosty February day, not the sort of day that I would expect to catch, all I had was bread as bait intended for carp, instead it was a bream a chuck, big baits too on a 4 hook.

Den, do the bream remain in a given area through the winter on your waters?

Are there any pointers you can give on location?

What about time of day and weather conditions?

Cheers.

Steve, I will give this some more thought, but what comes to mind immediately, is that the bream seem to come from the most prolific carp swims.

its an odd one in this lake because they are often found everywhere in the summer in the deeper waters or when fishing on the ledge?!?! wondered if they would stay in the same areas they are used to feeding in the warmer months or will they migrate to the deeper water for winter?? I am considering not going after nearly getting frost bite teaching outside today;
