So much for faith in your own product when you have the guts of a team which were formerly Jaguar facing liquidation.

Makes you want to use the worst pun of the day... Ta ta Jaguar.

As much as I hate to suggest nationalisation, it's a better bet than pumping csh into a company that's owned by TATA.

It is obvious that TATA will want to relocate manufacturing to India at some point. Even if they were to guarante to continue building cars in the UK in return for the cash injection, within 5 years, British workers would only be assembling components imported from India - and the value of a car industry is the number of jobs it creates in component manufacture.

Just to point out one small error regarding woolies sale..

At some point the company was indeed up for sale for a nominal £1, however, the buyer would have taken over the companies debts of around £350 million, not such a bargain maybe?

As for the broadening of their retail base, it was necessary to compete or they would have gone years ago. Lets face it no-one would have got through the 80's 90's and 00's selling pick 'n mix, winfield tupperware, ladybird kids clothes, kingfisher tackle and vinyl records.

Sad demise its true, but only the fittest survive in Thatchers vision of utopia (unless you happen to be a bank anyway)

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates

A few years ago, Woolies old off thr freeholds of their properties and leased them back at an agreed annual rent increase of 5%. Not the best long-term business decision ever made....

trouble was winfield tackle did sell well ,it was the tackle for the poor masses .some of it was obviasly thrusted apon them rather than seriously bought with angling in mind (similar to lidl) but overall not bad .

woolies was an institution ,you wanted something woolies had it and they did profit from selling it.they then went silly and downsized the bits people did want and started selling crap that they couldnt compete with ,on paper selling cd's and phones was ok in reality they had a problem shifting it.

trouble is companies want expansion not because they need it but because its expected ,rather than keep on making a small profit and keeping the stores familiar to its users they get big headed and insist on selling something they not only know nothing about but in a highly competitive market they cannot sell cheaply enough to sell enough to buy more at a reduced price.

they hoist themselves up on their own petard then wonder why it goes off leaving nothing but ruin around them

Indeed, that must have been the start of the long down hill slide, wondering where all the dosh went. Not into the business, that's a fact, unless the governers have been pumping cash into a lost cause, that has been known to happen.

Chesters, i still see some of the winfield boat multiplyer's on ebay now and again, it looks like any other and appear to be bomb proof.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

i still have an winfield international 50 its a good reel for the silly money i paid for it ,very penn like and robustly made

until a couple of years ago it had a hard life and theres no sign of corrosion on it (unlike some ;) ) a little nibbled about the earholes but works as good as it did when new ,were not talking top quality but certainly value for money.the only bad bit (and it may not be wholesale) was the handle stub became loose and it wobbled so i batted it with a hammer a few times to spread the brass fixing ,had it completely broke a nut and bolt would have done the job.not bad for a 35 year old reel.

even the screws are good quality and show little sign of the usual rounding posidrive ones suffer from and not one has ever got stuck ,my bro's poliscansky (sp?) bought when they were new on the market (and expensive) and no doupt to impress me broke after a few trips his lever drag (oh you have that old fashioned star drag he smirked) didnt last very long

they coud have saved a bit chucking in a plastic or fiberglass spool luckily or deliberately they didnt and used metal.

I thought Jaguar were after finance rather than a hand-out - either the government acting as guarantor, or else buying a chunk of shares. I can take that, but if money is just to be given to the motor industry to promote sales, a reduction in showroom tax to the consumer would be a better way of using the money.
