Rods for sea fishing

Recommended Posts

This is what it says on the packet -

The ’allrounder‘ series of solid glass rods ideal for light/medium river or saltwater work. Outstanding value for money. I think there are better materials such as carbon for spinning rods now

However, you will find prices here

Also there are some other budget spinning rods here

Best thing to do is to post what you want to do and what your budget is.

Hope that helps

:)

i dont know if carbon is "better" it is lighter and thinner but has it the same umph and forgiveness of glass :)

i do own carbon rods but still use fiberglass carbon hasent the same "feel" as glass and glass is a sight easier to repair if it breaks as carbon tends to unlaminate :(

carbon rods are ideal for providing spigots for repairing glass ones :D

solid glass though is only usefull for lightning proof plant stakes :D

if its your own boat its fine ,if its a commercial then hire the tackle untill you upgrade as usually the catching of mackeral is only for bait for larger stuff.

there seems to be a little tackle tartness in all fields of fishing but remember if its it good condition then what it could catch in the past it still can today and with a decent reel most rods are capable of catching more or less anything if you take your time (look at the USA lite line records)

i use a fiberglass beachcaster and an old Daiwa metal reel myself ,a youngster sporting modern stuff scoffed at my tackle ,i caught more than him even with his carbon and plastic :D

yes with modern stuff i could maybe cast further and the rod tip wouldnt bounce about in the wind but hey i fish for pleasure not fish, sitting on the beach with or without catching is better than nothing

The mackerel you catch from a boat, won't be any bigger than the ones caught from the shore.

You won't be using feathers on a small rod so as long as you are not a nuisance to other people on board, it should be great fun.

As you are only 11, you won't be out in the boat alone, will you?
