a friend of mine has this very old fly reel,does anyone know anything about it.it is a J.W.Youngs,(Beaudex ,i think)patent no.588494,also a J.J.S.Walker fly rod in cane.

John, I think JJ Walker made rods for other people as well as themselves. For instance Bagnall and Kirkwood and I believe Farlows.A nine foot cane made for B+K was on sale recently for £60. They were based in Alnwick I think.
