The multitudes assembled, they came from near and far,

to watch the great debate unfold, the one on C&R,

the lines were drawn, the barriers raised, the opponents took their stance,

and then the first few stabs were made, at which some looked askance.

 

"You are a pratt", "and you´re a fool", "in fact you are a cad",

"if you weren´t so bloody stupid, It might make me get quite mad",

and so it carried on a while, like some great heaving panting tug of war,

a pause was made to get some drinks, and then discussion raged once more

 

"You addle pated nincompoop", "you stupid ignorant twit",

the arguments continued then , and all were flinging **** ,

"I didn´t say that", "Oh yes you did", "We all know your stupid views",

"and we can prove it too as well", just go to deja news",

 

A newbie offered up his views, and was promptly shouted down,

"Don't be so naive you fool, you are too new in town",

"He´s not naive he´s honest", some sprang to his defence,

and of polite discussion, they then lost all pretence.

 

"You stupid ignorant ****, you lack an education",

this one was cheered, if I recall, and renewed the altercation,

the talk swung this way, and then that, but it never really faltered,

and none of the opinions voiced, were in the least bit altered.

 

Some wondered at the force in play, and shook their heads at such,

and some even then suggested, "thou doth protest too much",

undaunted by the criticism, more insults were then sent,

each side losing sight of goals, but still on victory bent.

 

Discussion now was flagging, and fresh blood was clearly needed,

"You pompous elitist nutcase" a fresh onslaught succeeded.

the crowd cheered wildly now of course, although some were getting bored,

when another brilliant insult fell, and the incensed recipient roared.

 

"With brains you would be dangerous", "just as well you´re thick",

"how dare you talk to me like that, you ignorant two faced prick"

here a jab, and there a slash, and some got even more upset,

in fact they got so angry and incensed, it quite made some forget.

 

Whatever they were discussing, slowly faded into hopeless wails,

a butting and a strutting, as may be observed in many macho males,

a pleasant ethical discussion, had once again turned badly sour,

and the bored observers, soon got tired, of this display of power.

 

Up spake another newbie, "friends this is not the way",

"lets try another angle", "lets discuss C&K",

Some pounced on him at once, and others raised the flag and charged anew,

another nice discussion from a different point of view.

 

"How can you believe that crap, you stupid senile fart",

got this brand new discussion, off to a cracking start,

the crowd now slowly thinned at last, they had heard it all before,

and instead of a discussion, it was all out desperate war,

 

Some wandered off befuddled, and sat down and stopped to think,

whats the point of a discussion, if you just end up with a stink ?

pondering on these problems, the crowd ever faster dwindled,

feeling somehow empty, and from the whole thing swindled.

 

"I came here for guidance, and not all this awful hard contention",

"well sod off then, until you overcome your pure anal retention"

the multitude which once had been, was now just but a few,

and the few who wandered in by chance, soon left the bickering crew.

 

Ever greater insults were traded then, but most had lost their meaning,

the observers now were fewer still, the spectacle demeaning,

some die-hards continued, "we´ll win this battle yet"

and in the meantime, many folks, had left, most quite upset.

 

For countless years the battle raged all through the various seasons,

mostly insults jibes and barbs, but occasionally some reasons,

and then at last the great year came, all got their dearest wish,

C&K and C&R just stopped at last, there were no longer any fish.
