Help a beginner, please

I am a beginner in fly-fishing for some 30 years already, when I successfully took chub with a birch-tree whip and a line, combined of 5 different dia lines. I've never seen anybody else doing it here in Russia, only a brief lesson at Orvis headquartes 6 years ago. I have a "slow action" ABU 6/7 AFTM and "quick action" ORVIS 5 AFTM, 5 WF and 6 DT, aiming at fish on surface.

Will those of you, who've read my long story to the end , help me to combine what I have, for me to cast the fly for at least 20 yards, with my hat still on my head
