new fisherman needs help

hello, ive just started fly fishing and i have all the gear except the flies. im 14 years old, and was wondering if anyone out there could suggest any suitable wet fly/nymph patterns

Hi, Gone-fishin - tell us a bit more about where you intend fishing

 

Commercial trout lakes - like Chalk Springs at Arundel ? (good but expensive)

 

Chalk streams like the Meon ? (even more expensive)

 

Chi gravel pits for rudd etc ?

 

The Arun for Mullet ? :cool:

 

Or where ?

 

Then we can be a bit more specific in our advice.

Welcome to fly fishing. Someone once told me that the most successful angler on the planet is the person who enjoys themselves the most. I hope you have a wonderful time, I am sure you will.

Hi Tom,

welcome to AN, you have come to the right place.

A couple of tips for you. Answer the questions as to where you will be fishing etc, people on here want to help people like you but need a bit more info.

You won't go far wrong by taking a look at the Articles section and see what Mike Conner amongst others has to say about fly fishing.

You could also do a Search by clicking the search box, top right hand side, and again see what Mike has to say.
