can anyone suggest the best flourocarbon to use for knotting droppers on casts? i have tried a number of different brands but each spool seems to react differently to the knots, especially in the lighter b.s.

I use Fulling Mill 5, 6 & 7lb. Still use a tucked half blood knot for the flies and 4 turn water knot for the droppers, never have any trouble. Just make sure you lubricate the knots before tightening. Perhaps the real secret is to make sure the line is not old stock, so go to a shop with a big turnover of line.

If you get the Fulling Mill 6lb bs, it will more than likely be relatively new as they've had problems satisfying orders.

I'd been waiting for a month before it arrived earlier this week and I'd tried 3 or 4 other sources.

I also like the Mamba fluoro as it's not as stiff as the Fulling Mill and I find I can get it to sink more easily.

Ashima is the best I've used IMO, but the price is enough to put me off it.
