Double-Hook Furler

Does anybody know where I might be able to source a ‘double-hook furler’ as depicted in Darrell Martin’s book, Micropatterns?

 

I’m kind of hoping it’s a commercially available device used in the cord or rope-making industry and not a personally developed and manufactured piece of kit.

The person to speak to about these devices is a close friend and former pupil of mine Alan Bithell who is now also one of the finest fly dressers in England and probably Europe.

He has taken on this furled leader thing and makes superb ones which he sells.

However I have no doubt that if you really want to learn how to do it he will gladly teach you.

In reality it isn't that difficult.

How do you rate furled leaders? Are they the best thing since plastic lines and graphite rods?

They are very good though like all things in angling there is a time and place for them and other solutions....Most of the time I like the polyleaders from the Airflo stable for my river dry fly work
