Now let's ban fishing!!

from Teresa Thom

I had the considerable displeasure of witnessing an act of great cruelty on a visit to a popular fishing spot near your offices on Saturday.

A group of people were engaged in a fishing match.

I could not believe that this hideous and grotesquely cruel practise is still permitted under British law.

Now that we are banning hunting with dogsin this country I am sure that we must ban this evil practise as soon as possible.

Please tell your readers that if they ever see this evil practise they are to approach the fishermen and women and tell them to stop.

I shall be returning to your area at the end of the month and looking for people who will support a ban on fishing.

Enough said??????????????????????

Letters page of the Peterborough evening telegraph Wednesday, september 4

I had the considerable displeasure of witnessing an act of great cruelty on a visit to a popular fishing spot, quite near the evening telegraph offices, at the weekend.

A group of people were engaged in a fishing contest.

I could not believe that this, in my opinon, hideous and grotesquely cruel practise is still permitted under british law.

The poor fish were being dragged through the water with an evil, barbed hook in there mouths, and then having cold-blooded flesh scalded by being handled by warm-blooded men, and unbelievably women also.

These poor creature were left crammed suffocating in a net until the end of the competition, when they were handled again for weighing.

Now that we are hopefully close to a ban on hunting with dogs in this country, I am sure we must ban this, in my opinion, evil practice as soon as possible.

I shall be returning to the area at the end of the month, and will be looking for people who will support a ban on fishing.

I wonder would they stop the Herons snaffling all the Koi and goldfish, orfe etc. from my pond? at least the fish I catch have a sporting chance..... no, come to think of it, when you are as good as I am they don't, but I still wish I could get rid of these d*mn Herons. :(

IF YOUR DOG THINKS YOU ARE THE BEST

Don't seek a second opinion.
