tickling trout

Have caught several that way, but it's now illegal, even if it's your land, your stream and your trout.

It does teach you a lot about watercraft and a stealthy approach. Definitely requires a high level of skill - I find it easier to catch them on fly.

its called guddling in scotland and i have had a bit off luck as a boy but the once plentyful trout have long gone in that river

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I used to do it as a lad up in the Lake district but as has already been pointed out it is now illegal as a method which is sad in a way as it was very skillfull and good fun!

Guddling, Them were the days, I used to spend many an afternoon on the Garrell Burn in Kilsyth guddling for trout,(allegedly), I used to watch for trout moving under the bank, then with your hand in the water at the back of the fish, very slowly bring your hand up and under its belly, and you tickled their belly with your fingers, it seemed to make them "drowsy" till you could grab them . It is very hard to describe it , as I found it much easier to be shown.

I didnt know it was illegal tho'

But these days just about everything is .

cheers
