Thanks for that so in all I will need backing, fly line, leader, and tippet. This is really a journey of discovery, I am reading some books on fly fishing and finding it very interesting, even if I need the idiots guide. Thanks for the help.

Peter, most tackle shops will load the reel for you with the backing, fly line fixed to it and perhaps a leader if asked.

thanks for that, still a bit confused about the weight of the rod i need. I want to use it on small rivers and streams for mainly chub, although in some rivers near me there can be the odd brown trout, an article i read suggested a brook rod that casts 4 weight line should be used in this situation. Its not like i will need to cast it far just accuratley, i think I will start to examine some tackel on the net and maybe go into a good tackel shop that sells fly gear.
