Poly leaders.

Cranfield

Recommended Posts

I have always used double taper fly lines, I tie my mono leaders to it and then straight through to the fly.

I,m going sea trout fishing and my Host has recommended I get some 5ft poly leaders, to which I will tie 5ft of mono, to my fly.

Will this set up affect the normal rhythm of my casting ?

I am imagining the fly line tapering, then bulging out on the poly leader, then tapering again.

Making for a different weight distribution.

Why bother with the poly leaders ?

I wouldn't bother.Flyfishing is flyfishing.Seatrout are trout. The only difference is the size of flies and the fact you may fish at night.Better to stick to what you are used to .I have never used anything other than mono connections for lakes or rivers.Different leader set ups will never compensate for poor technique.Don't believe the hype.

Good luck
