Sea Trout flies.

I,m sea trout fishing in Cumbria, later this week.

Whats your favourite sea trout fly ?

(favourite = catches a lot, not just looks nice )

I am not sure the pattern matters.The size of fly might.The trick is to catch the river right ie.Rain,water levels etc.and then don't go scaring them.

The "Secret Weapon" is one I would make sure is in my flybox - its like an oversize Teal,Blue and Silver, with a small treble attached ie the sting is in the tail. The TBS of course is still pretty effective.

 

As dogfish says, stealth is your best weapon, but I'm sure you know that already

Thanks for the replies.

I did use the TBS exclusively, as I have had most fish on it, in the past.

 

We fished from 9pm until 2am on three nights.

Unfortunately, with the very low water levels (too low for spinning,or worming), our results were as bad as we expected.

 

Still, it was a great few days in good company and the Cumberland sausage and mustard mash, was fit for a King.
