Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows how the Lune is fishing these days? I am thinking of taking up fly fishing and i live within walking distance of the Lancaster/Halton stretches. I have been a coarse fisherman for 21 years and fancy trying my hand and the "other code"

GOOD LUCK WITH THE FLY FISHING, YOU WILL LOVE IT IF YOU STICK IT OUT LONG ENOUGH TO CATCH YOUR FIRST FISH ON THE FLY . IT CAN BE VERY UPSETTING AND THE AIR CAN GO   (BLUE) UNTILL YOU GET THE HANG OF THE CASTING .

The stretch you mention is liable to produce the odd salmon and/or seatrout, as I am sure you know. Perhaps you should bear this in mind when choosing your fly gear - you might find yourself attached to a salmon !

Good luck with the fly fishing. A good way to learn is to take a day at a local still-water fly fishery - if possible with someone who will show you the basics.

If you are really serious and can spare the cash, a few lessons from a professional instructor is worthwhile. Expensive, but many would say good value for money if you intend to fish quite a lot.
