coarse fishing gear with fly fishing gear

if you really want to you can, although i wouldnt have thought it would be much fun. as you've already fly fished, you'll know that floats and shot arent the method used with fly tackle.

and put any bait on a hook at any fly fishery i can think of and you'll be amazed how quickly you get escorted off the premises!

sometimes it pays to try different methods and try to think of new ideas, sometimes things are the way they are for good reason!

roll casting a worm on a spated river is good tactic and legal on most scottish rivers after may 1st.

you need shot for this.

ps fish the sides

a trout rod has a different action which caters for the different type of casting. a coarse rod (match rod) is better designed for casting light floats long distances.

saying that when out fishing for coarse fish on the fly, ive changed tactics for a carp by tying on a fresh leeder and using a superglued dog buscuit. this can be very succesful and causes less disturbance when the fish are shy.
