I am just about to embark on the adventure that is fly tying.

Try Fly Fishing and Fly Tying . I've picked up a few ideas and how to tie certain types of flies from here. Last months shrimp variant turned out rather well after a few tries as well. Looks like I need to pop down and pick up the March issue.

 

Also try here for a pattern index, here for nymphs, and here For different types of kit. You can spend a fortune on a vice when all you really need is a third hand. The inexpensive models work just as well. You can get your material from just about anywhere. Great fun.
