Fly or feather

10 brownie points

Recommended Posts

As I have mentioned a number of times before here my local river is very small but great fun to fish, but this year I have only had one chance to fish it so far but I was planning to make some time this week. Yesterday while passing I took a look in and I wasn't very surprised to see how low the water levels are, the river now is made up of pools and very low water running in between.

Is this a good time to fish it or would I be better to load up the sea fishing rods and feather traces take a few mackerel down on the bridges of Ross or castle cliffs on the west coast of Clare.

All suggestions welcome ..

'Fraid so. Cant even paint yet either. Hope to be a bit more mobile in a week or so. In the meantime I'll keep taking the pills. Down side:- no alcahol, upside:- who needs it with the pills :D:D:P

only problem is I've a short window between happiness/ normality / pain. so I spend much time dozing etc. too dopey to do much else and after half an hour of waking time pain kicks in and its happy time again.

I will be off the heavy meds on Saturday though

Hi Lewis

Castle point - bet you've never tried fly fishing from there :):) . I was there 3 years ago and it took about 8 ounces of lead to get the feathers to sink, the wind was that strong. But a great place to be. Never had any luck at the Bridges of Ross. Never fly fished ever So the other day I thought I would subscribe to the Irish Angler as Ireland is where I go for holiday sea fishing. With the subscription comes a free fly leader. So now I start thinking about sea fly fishing, as I have the line. :D I've had a look on a sea fly fishing web-site but it's like reading a foreign language. Any idea where I can find out the real basic basics?? Tim
