Dyson switches have a habit of dying - and the strain relief is V poor.

Well worth fixing if you don't want a shock!

(Disconnect the mains lead from the wall.)

You get it out by sliding a thin screwdriver or knife blade carefully down the inside where you can see a tiny yellow 'tooth' poking through - once you have depressed this the switch cover can be pulled out. under this you find the switch and its held by a small screw. the strain relief is the micky mouse rat run the cable goes though.

I cut off about 5" of cable & remake the ends - fill the 'rat run' with silicone rubber to prevent probs in future.

PS if you get the switch cover off without breaking the dog tooth your a better man than me! (I recon on a 50/50 chance of snap off!)

I got spare switches & covers from a local dealer for a few quid each.

Hi Chesters, I am glad to report that the two eldest kids do make with the Dyson in their own bedrooms and also in the family room.

Just need to get them to do our lounge and the rest of the house LOL, more chance of pirarucu in the local trout lake !

I believe that Grey's need to offer a guarantee , as they DO seem to have a lot of breakages....not heard of so many Daiwa gear for example breaking , and they must sell as many as Grey's...

I've heard of a few problems with their blanks being weak...maybe strength sacrificed for lightness...?

I used Diawa rods for years and they broke just as easily.......To single out Grey's rods is unfair, there are no posts compaining about Diawa's warranty turn-around because they don't offer one!

All carbon based blanks will break due to accidents and or extreme stresses, I should know I've broken most of them in my time. :D

I snapped a 3 year old Diawa (top section spigot) 10 years ago - phoned e'm up asking for repair costs - they said send the whole rod up and they will quote me.

Rod came back - all fixed & no charge! (not even shipping) and that was a sub £100 rod.

So always let them know its broke & ship it out - you just might be lucky!
