Recommended Posts

had a few casts with snatcher today

quite straight approx 12-15 yds

he feels set up is well balanced so time to practice more and more

took a wee bit of time to remember to pause after back cast but will stick at it

thanks again Jim for lines :D

and MJB for flies :D

hopefully will do you justice in the near future with a nice bass/pollack/ mackeral or two :)

Good luck Tack why not practice on a fishery full of rainbows first to get into the swing of fly casting. ??

.....That's probably not a good idea....he may never go back to the briny! :D:D:D

Keep it up Tack - I am making my first visit to your area at the end of May, and having a few days out with Ian after tope/pollack, but will be exploring the sea flyfishing from the shore as well.

From all the chat on the threads, it looks an area worth exploring in detail. Any snippets of information as to where to fish would be gratefully received.

been out again casting on grass approx 25- 30 yds accuracy approx 30% it was windy and trying to aim for wind assistance

arm was getting a tad tired

considering a wee session over water to see how straight the line is falling

should i be using a fly on the end and if so any recomendations as there seem to squillions to choose from

rod is 10' rated 8/9 lines both 8's floating and intermediate

Definitely practice with something on the end of the leader - otherwise how can you tell your leader will be turning over properly when you try turning practice into fishing?

If you're on grass then a fly will be a RPITA as it will keep getting caught up - to imitate something heavy like a clouser try a small tube fly with a coarse fishing swivel tied where the hook would normally be. For lighter flies use a section of zonker strip (rabbit skin, usually dyed) tied to the end of the leader.

Cheers,
