I don't think we ever did find out for sure and the poster hasn't been on since last July.

 

This wouldn't be Witch Pond, Norfolk County, Massachusetts USA would it?

Androo - sorry to take 2 years to respond but there are no Wels catfish in the US. We have channels, flatheads, and blues but no wels.

In view of all the Perch controversy recently I thought I would resurrect this as it reminded me of something I saw within the last 6 months in a weirpool on the suffolk stour although only about 2/3rds of the size of this one.

 

I do not fish for these monsters don't even have a line over 7lbs b.s.
