Some nice looking fish indeed.

That shut them up Michael!

They are mighty fish that's for sure! I really didn't think we had 100lb+ cats over here.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

i have tryed to look up the uk catfish record but the bigest i can find is 68lb ?

There isn't a proper, official catfish record any more, as people were stocking very big fish from abroad. But yours is certainly the biggest I've heard of, nice one!

The last recognised Cat was 62lb (28.123 kilo’s) caught in 1997 by R Garner from Withy Pool. (and a lot of doubts have been aired over the true heritage of this fish!)

There have been several much larger ones caught since including a staggering 12 different fish over 100lb.All though (as indeed is most likely Michaels) were certainly not born in the waters they were caught from!

UK catting has kind of shot its self in its own foot over the last decade. Its become the joke of UK specimen fishing.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

None of which takes away from the fun of landing such a monster.

Totally true Newt. And not much different (just a bit more extreme) than has/is happening in the carp scene. Shame the catfish world didnt click on to the eventual problems this sort of thing would bring as quickly as the likes of ECHO did. But I suppose the combination of lack of cat waters/growth in interest in catfishing and ease of availability of foriegn and farm reared fish (and dare I say finnancial rewards to fishery owners) it was inevitable.
