Braid to swivel knot?

I don't think any one knot is always better than another. I suspect that how well you tie it is more important than which of the better type of knots you use. However, it should be borne in mind that half blood knots (=US clinch knot) aren't suitable for braids.

In an interesting experiment in the States a line manufacturer found that spitting on a knot gave better test results. In looking more closely they found that it wasn't the spitting that was important, but rather that when anglers spat on the knot they tended to tie it more carefully.

So perhaps it would be better to choose the knot you tie the best. For me and several posters that's the Palomar; but for others, like Dave, it may be something else.

you got it steve, use whichever you feel confident with.

i feel confident using a palomar, and i know i can tie them well even in the dark, with cold wet hands, so thats the knot i use.
