I had a fantastic day on the Kennet today. Got my first ever 2lb+ Kennet grayling - actually broke my own river best twice as I also had a 1.15 (my previous best from the Kennet was 1.14). However what we were really after were the monster dace - and as the light faded I found them - had ½doz over 8oz with the best 4 going 15oz, 14oz, 12oz & 11oz - and as an added bonus there were some nice roach shoaling with the dace - managed 3 'pounders' upto 1lb 6oz....

Will put up some piccies - when Paul sends them to me!

I'm especially jealous of the dace!

Well the venue has done 'pounders' - my PB of 1lb 2oz is from there - but they are as rare as rocking horse do-do. This was my biggest dace from there since I had that PB back in 2003....

New PB Grayling for me. 1lb 15oz beats previous record by 4oz.

Could not believe the size of it in the net, the pictures don't do it justice. Shame it was a cloudy day and the colours didnt come out, still, not too bad for self-timer pictures... :)

A pic from yesterday. Both Paul and I connected with our first dace of the day at exactly the same time. Paul's is the fish on the top at a fraction over 10oz - my fatty underneath went 14oz. Alas Paul had wondered off with the camera when I got the one an ounce heavier...

It could well be the river Dee Tigger.........!

I could have been a bit more careful with hiding the swim in the picture, but then I thought, the river is famous for its grayling fishing with 4lb fish having been caught every year since god knows when.....and with a 2lb grayling possible from almost every swim throughout the eighty something miles of river, revieling the swim isn't that much of a big deal..
