All that recycled water is probably the reason there has been an increase in the number of homosexuals.

You might be right Den, I know some of Bassenthwaites problems have been put down to a water treatment plant and didn't Emma say she liked to swim in it as a kid. B)

i cant understand why a simple law stating any water going into a river must be cleaner than the water its entering hasnt been put in place years ago.

its usually the sewerage plants that do the damage so tighten up their act ,simple.

by clean i mean totally not just visibly clean ,solids are easy to remove

Same thing happened in ancient Greece, you'd think they'd have fixed it by now B)

I think the annoying thing was the fact that the water company have the technological know-how to fix the problem, but won't spend the money. One of the few things the EU have done is force these buggers to spend on cleaning plants. (Let's face it my local Mersey didn't get cleaned up for my benefit!) Let's hope the scientists have a word in the right EU earholes!

Well I was always falling in, but have to say I'm so glad that I did. ;)

If there is a problem with an inbalance of sexes in Bassenthwaite's pike, then it is the reverse of the trend reported in countryfile. The Lancaster uni team who have been doing the research have, as part of their work collated anglers catch returns and found a disproportionate number of small male (jack) pike amongst the returns. I did put the notion of some variable in the water determining the development of more fry into males (as opposed to 'sex changing' ones already female), to the prof who presented the findings to us last year. Apparently that had been considered, examined and discounted.

As for an 'increase in the amount of homosexuals'...it's much more likely that there is simply a decrease in the numbers of sad old homophobes who are dying off.
