What a fascinating read...didn't understand a word of it though :)

still having a problem using wireless to go online.

i thought it was my BT home hub v1.5 but managed to find a version 2 (coool) at the boot fair still wrapped.

gleefully plugging it in i ran the software ,the PC sees the hub (good signal hoorah) the software sees the broadband connection (cool) and checks my phone number to make sure its me but after its told me alls well and have a nice day it wont connect to here! or anywhere!!!

web browser page tells me everything looks ok but check the firewall etc ,done that switched it off! nothing! even bt help chunders to a halt because it cant connect.plug in ethernet and alls well!

I can see the hub in wireless networks with a good signal and its connected ,why cant i play online???.

second attempt at installing told me to make windows control the connections ,did that and it seemed happy and continued the install.

looking at the wireless conection details windows cant see a problem with it but the details have blanks after the "default gateway" and "WINS server"? the ethernet connection has the "default gateway" filled in but not the WINS one

sir as a new internet user am with bt and i have had the same problem as you got my hub 2.0 (black) on friday 3/4/09 and had to link via ethernet cable as bt told me to do .Everything worked fine till a tried to go wifi in the gardon after 2hours and many cups of coffee bt told me a was on the wrond setting . Sir if you are still havin bother with it . Press your windows button and look for HUB MANAGER load that up and goto SETTINGS enter your admin code if you don't have one LOOK on the back of your hub now then goto wireless and change your channel till you fine one that works am on channel 11 and that now work fine. I hope that work out for you.

Can you connect to your home hub when connected through the wireless??

Can you ping 192.168.1.254 on wireless?

It could be the WIFI key try disabling it to test if this is the case. If it is then turn it back on and make sure you are inputting it correctly, case sensitive remember.

If its not that then I've had trouble before with the WIFI radio channel. You could try changing this to 11 or 1 depending on where it is now.
