Steve, if the Broads are like the Thames then I suspect that the Thames Conservancy launches are there in regard to the navigation, not fishing, that comes under the EA. Up on the Broads, due to pressure from anglers, the EA are now putting bailiffs on the Inspectors/ Rangers boats and doing quite well, catching plenty! I suspect that there is a formal angling consultancy on the Thames, if not, contact the EA and offer to start one! The EA is duty bound to uphold the law. If you feel that not enough is being done then contact your MP, that's what the blokes there for, for you!

what a pointless petition ,if you want a close season then dont fish between march 16 june 15th (bound to have that wrong) ,or hassel your club to have one.

Farnham AS has some waters (not just the river stretches) closed in the close season some open .

clubs/landowers have the final say after all they can have close seasons for 6 months if they choose if the regulated close season was abolished

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Chesters, just as there is a world outside of Broadland there is also a world beyond Farnham!

We have had all the arguements almost ad infinitum but one thing that appears largely lost on some folk is that tidal rivers do not have the protection of being managed by their owners.

When the reports of the big pike came on here the other day, it was said that the closed season would prevent the 'circus' from descending on the Thurne system, 'en masse'. It would give the pike a chance to spawn/recover without the heavy pressure from anglers.

Was that a special 'one off' occasion where the closed season came in handy?

As for the "others do, it so why not me?". Almost every law in the country is broken by some. Is that a good excuse for getting rid of all the laws?

As for boating past them in the closed season? I'd be sorely tempted to go in real close making as much noise as I could, and politely explain to them that "It's the closed season".

This illegal fishing rivers has definitely increased since they abolished the closed season on stillwaters.

It must be the complicated rules about where, and when it's allowed that's the problem.

All clubs have bailiffs, (or should have). Surely it's not beyond expectation for those members that care, to form a group, and occasionally patrol their own waters, just to check.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

John that is my tactic every time i see it just to reinforce the bloody cryuisers on the river are a pain mentality :D:D and have had a few vigorous discussions with these muppets but they are often back there the next weekend, biggest problem last year was due to funding cutts the patrol boats were not out very much untill after the 16th June in fact didnt see them much all summer ,have been asked a few times when fishing from my boat for my rod licence from the Inspectors boats but have seen same boats go by guys blatanly fishing and next time i will take it higher Steve.

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales

have I told you abouit the cruise control on my Volvo ,,,,,,,bla bla bla Barder rod has it come yet?? and don`t even start me on Chris Lythe :bleh::icecream:
