Does the NAC have an ongoing policy on the subject of pettitioning government etc on this issue? Any studies/reports on such that we could see?

Hi Budgie, Its been quite a while.

I am no longer within the NAC and so I can not comment on the work being done by Mark and the rest of the NAC committee.

I can how ever confirm that Clive Dennison (former Eel Study Group and NAC) and Myself ( former NAC) are still making head roads into the situation regards eels and their decline.

We are still currently in dialog and submitting views and opinions on a few issues at present to the EA and wider European Union. states to continue with the recovery plans. (Just keeping them aware that they are being watched)

On the subject of papers, which specific info would you wish to read?

I will try to pass over some info if you can be more specific.

Regards and keep well,

Tony.

Hi Tony good to see you posting again.

I would mainly be interested in anything about how the eel population has actually been measured (and the findings) if such is avaiable?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Evening Budgie

I see that Tony has posted a couple of useful links to papers relating to eel stocks. This link is also interesting http://www.cites.org/eng/news/press_release.shtml and if you click on the "Note to journalists" background document at the end of the press realease it links to a reasonably effective summary of the situation that is almost readable! Hope this helps

Regards

Mark
