This is my problem - getting an affordable reel that balances my little rod. I've had another look around now and still can't find anything, it's very annoying!

 

I noticed that the lighter you went, the less choice there was. Seems that the smaller reels are a bit less in demand, particularly at the more affordable end of the market.

I was looking at those, and thinking much what you've said.

 

 

 

I'll probably want to press it into use elsewhere, though, anywhere that my #6/7 kit is a bit heavy - so it might be worth getting a reasonable line.

I bought a G series for my Streamflex with a spare spool. I did the cheap line cut in two trick for small streams (actually an Airflop platinum chalkstream line from Tacklebargains for about £13 a couple of years ago!) and a better quality line, the name of which eludes me at the moment for bigger waters.

 

With the Airflop jobby cut in half it seems to lose the slinky habit somewhat! mind you I do have the habit of storing my lines off the reel on an old catering coffee tin which helps somewhat! :)

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

A good inexpensive reel is the Okuma SLV series under £25 it's what I use

I can find their graphite-bodied reels in that price range, but not the SLV. Is it a lot better than the Greys G series? Enough to pay the difference, or to get one of my relatives in Cleveleys to post it down to me?
