motion sensors...?

do any of you guys know if (PIR) motion sensors are responsive to the heat and movement of water?

For example i am wanting to put a PIR motion sensor audio alarm on a platform in the middle of a pond and would like to know if the ripples and fluxuating heat range of water would set them off?

Or can you change the sensitivity/detection so it wont detect water ripples and only sudden radiation increases of heat (ie: man/pet)?

Cheers all

you could just put a bit of tape along the bottom of the sensor as they are wide angle devices with careful positioning it should be able to block out the water , at the moment pir detectors at the cheaper end are useless in the open air and can cause false alarms another choice are those that "count" i.e they ignore any "one off" detections but if the " intruder" moves again they trigger , i`m not sure what your trying to achieve but if your a student and you achieve it ,you will make the uni very happy :)
