hi all, i own 3 greys prodigys 3lb tc and have shimano big pit br's on them. I use some big ish pva bags on them and have had a few of the butt sections snap. owned 2 powermesh x in 2lb 1/4 tc and had no probs.

Was wondering what other rods you lot were using?

another person with prodigy's problems. The t/c on the rods are more than adequate it seems you have got one of a dodgy batch of rods that were sold within the uk! (i had the same problem) take the rods back and get them replaced mate then try again. I use 2 3/4 ESP reflex rods and i chuck out massive bags with no problems at all

I use 3lb Harrison Ballistas and they cope admirably with bags but i dont tend to attempt more than about 40-60 yards with solid pva bags as i dont want to overload the rods, I prefer the stocking type bags for range work, in fact i use the stocking type for 99% of my pva work nowadays.

Hi Mr Beef

Heard a lot of good reports about the Prodigy's with two bad ones:

either 1: as mentioned above u have one of a dodgy batch

or two (quite common) people saying that the spigit joint is not strong enough as the rest of the rod and is a weak spot, also shows weakness when casting at long range

Whatever floats your boat...

See how I float mine, here
