How long would you leave a bait such as corn or meat in before re casting?

this year i am using trigga and have found that 1-2 hours is about right ,especially now in the winter i am only using high flavoured single hook baits.water is very silty and weedy so never quite certain that it is spot on,however seems to work for me,had a nice 18lb ghost carp first cast last weekend,should have gone home then.cheers big al
