what rigs to use

hi im going on a water with catfish to 53lb and carp to 30lb but i want to catch the cats but i dont no what rig to use semi fixed or free running.

someone was talking about cats over on the coarse fishing thread, and they were saying bolt rigs, the safety clip setup works well, but use an accuratly set freespool because when hooked those cats will take you for a spin!

To put it simple semi fixed leads and baitrunners for live baits and boillies/pellets and free running with open bailarm for all other baits.

 

Been a lot of complex rigs for cats suggested in recent years but Ive always found simple best.Cats aint that bright!

Circle hooks too. Get a size that matches well with your intended bait. Cats have a large mouth so don't be afraid of a large hook. As BUDGIE noted, they ain't the brightest fish in the water.
