Richard actually laughed at my rigs last time we were fishing  I have to admit, his rigs were very impressive, like little works of art. And they certainly worked.

Only because of the difference in complexity to mine (I porbably spend 2-3 hours each day just tying rigs  ). Thing is though, would a simple rig have worked just as well? Probably!

Angly if you do get a Wingham place I'd be very happy to talk rigs with you! I'm the opposite of Anderoo and as riggy as you can get! I've played around alot with various rigs to present hair rigged maggots and whilst I'm pleased with the latest one I reckon I need more fish to be sure!

If I do make it to Wingham, I'm not sure about 'talk with' (which suggests I'll have some useful input!), but I'm more than happy to listen intently and take notes whilst you do the talking!

I just feel we all over complecate things, although I do use hook links of various types and different set ups, nearly, if not all of the biggest fish I have caught over the years. Have all come on simple straight through rigs, waggler slipped on the line with a couple of shot plus a size 8 hook, accounted for my one and only 20lb fish, plus lots of other with this method, also a ledger slid on the line a ledger stop and hook tied on accounted for fish to 19lb 4oz, but in the end it all depends on what you are after and where you are fishing.

As for thin braid and tangles, I did some tank tests with last seasons' rigs earlier in the year and pretty much any water movement lead to everything ending up in a pile right against the feeder.Rich

Yeah but when the rig hits bottom I just give the reel a quick turn or two emptying the feeder and leaving the hookbait in amongst it and then several muinuites later if need be....seeee..............simples :D All in a pile next to the feeders good....in'it, the fish should soon locate the bait if it's right up next to the feeder.

I find it happens with a inline lead, part of the problem is the hooklength can fold back and get caught up on the main line. If you are using methods, just because of the sheer size of them this is likely to stop this happening, also with methods you can tuck the hook/braid into the ball to stop tangles.

I thought we were talking about inline maggot feeders the size of the one Mr. Bowler was using which is the size of my method feeders and big enough for a 3" hook length not to reach the main line.

One quick little trick Ive used for inline leads and can be used on inline feeders is to tie up some small 1" loops in PVA string. When you want to cast just pull your lead/feeder off the swivel and poke the knotted end of the PVA loop through the eye of the swivel and push the lead/feeder back down. this should leave you with a small PVA loop hanging out the bottom of your lead/feeder which you can just pop your hook on to stop it flying around in flight. After slash down give it a minuet for the PVA to melt and tighten up to straighten things out.
