Hi all. I shall have a free evening on 21st June whilst working in York. Do any of you have any suggestions for an evening session on a river. Not fussy, stick float, ledger or lure. Cheers, John.

Free fishing here in the city center (R. Ouse) and if you are willing to drive check these out.

Decent fishing in Ripon with 6 miles of river for 5-6 quid day ticket, two still waters, canal and the R Laver which is flyfishing only.

York isn't very far from Ripon

As already been mentioned the fishing in York inside of the city walls is free. On the stretch from the Lendal bridge downstream , under the railway bridge and down to the big bend on the field is free and produces good bags of roach and bream and some good chub.Pike can be had from all of that length. There is a concrete walkway unederneath the Lendal bridge and downstream where the boats moor and fishing is quite easy from here as there is a car park right by the river.

There is some good piking to be had at Rowntrees wharf on the Foss at the rear of the multi story behind Marks and Spencers

If you fancy some barbel fishing then 15 minutes from York on the A59 is some good day ticket water on the Nidd. Kirk Hammerton,Green Hammerton,Nether Poppleton,Upper poppleton and Moor Monkton all provide day tickets from farmers some via tickets in local tackle shops others by way of honesty boxs.

Day tickets cost about £3/4 a day depending where you fish

Good luck

Brian
