Normally we would turn a blind eye to limited use of disguised sweary words, but in this case it was just way OTT.

 

Personally I don't see the need to swear in a public forum at all whether it's disguised or not, especially in a forum that is viewed by schoolchildren....

 

 

Clearly we were all taking the P (can i say that?) out of the whole idea that ramsay thinks what he is doing is big or clever.

 

That IS NOT the same as swearing on a forum in the literal sense.

 

At least the adults here understood it and thought it amusing.....and i'm sure most the school kids looking in thought it funny too as i'm sure they all know who jamie oliver (another bad user of expletives)

and ramsay are. I reckon most swear more than we do too.

 

Never mind though, it gave you the opportunity to bark at us like infants.

Maybe Den - and I don't think it excuses it even if it is the reason he is that way. It's not just the swearing, though, it's the whole persona and management style. He's playing it up for the cameras now, obviously, but the shouting at people, throwing people out of his restaurant, etc, seems to be how he works. Not saying that kind of robust working environment is entirely a bad thing, though - the opposite kind of environment where confrontation is completely avoided and people go crying to management with the slightest grievance is pretty unhealthy too.

Well you've driven enough people away already. The list of people who don't post here that did when I first joined is endless.

 

Its a pity actually as I think Elton has arguably the best angling site on the net, but heavy handed moderation means only a tiny fraction of those who actually hold accounts (its many thousands now) feel like commenting on here.

 

What does irk me though is how once again YOU newt only ever speak to me to have a go. You asked me not to speak to you...kindly be decent enough to extend me the same courtesy.

It seems the criteria to edit a post or remove is very much down to the personal likes or dislike of the mod that is looking at it. I have seen and have been on the end of some ferocious personal attacks, and yet they have stood, and yet moderation gets very discerning when there is a hint of some colourful language to illustrate a celebrity who uses such on a TV channel .

If we are so concerned about protecting our children from such language then we better lock them in and never let them out on the streets or attend school. By and large we are a decent lot on here and don't need to be scolded like kids, after all we are a fishing website and therefore should have a robust understanding of life in general where swearing is part of every day life.

Perhaps sterile word game threads are the way forward for AN, I know John S seems to like them those wonderful debates we used to have perhaps are a thing of the past with too many good posters taking to much flack for making this site the best, or was the best perhaps.

Yes I will probably get lambasted again, but I do actually care about AN, and yes I could trot off elsewhere Newt, but so could we all.

No point making a fuss and getting people's backs up. To my knowledge that's the only time in 3500 posts that I've misjudged the sensibilities round here enough to get a post edited - lesson learnt, keep it a bit more vanilla and move on.

i dont think theres any need for the amount of swearing that bloke does,he worked under marco pierre white who is a one of the worlds best,he swears alot too but not half as much as gordon ramsey does,im surprised nobodys lamped him.
