Dilemna time folks!

I need to dash off to the tackle shop tomorrow to get some new line for the new river season (nowt like being prepared is there?) :(

Any suggestions for a good reel line suitable for;

Float fishing for small fish.

Float fishing for decent chub, barbel etc

Feeder fishing for decent chub and barbel.

Any recommendations please? :)

Cheers Ian.

Was actually considering Maxima for the feeder.

At the moment floatfish line seems a minefield with so many to choose from.

Never used Drennan floatfish before. Presume it's a good line considering the name. :)

For float fishing on a river you need a floating line. Most do float but some like Maxima, Drennan Specimen Plus, Bayer Superlon and Gold Label Pro Gold sink.

I haven't done any river float fishing for a while so am not up to date with the latest lines, especially braids. In the past I liked Bayer Perlon, that I gather is identical to Drennan Floatfish, but I suspect that there are better choices now.

I've tried loads but still have the most confidence in Bayer Perlon and Maxima. Going to get some new today and won't bother with anything else for the time being.

I still use Maxima for all my waggler and feeder fishing, Drennan Float fish for the stick float though and I use Stren for my Mullet Fishing.

Disregard. I was thinking of Stroft not Stren.

Sorry, I missed the bit about feeder fishing. My choice would be Pro Gold, although as it sinks it wouldn't be best for float fishing. For my reasons for choosing Pro Gold see my field test at http://anglers-net.co.uk/reviews/progold01.htm

I use fluorocarbon for my hook links for mullet and feeder fishing, whatever the reel line.

Sightfree is my favourite and I get that from the fly fishing specialist shops such as Sportfish or Fishtec. Its good stuff ask Rob he was using some 6lb at Wingham at the weekend.
