KAPS angling snodland lakes

in-line

Recommended Posts

hi guys

ive recently started fishing down in snodland on the KAPS water. what a great fishery, scenery is amazing and a great bunch of people. always giving a helpin hand to put you on some fish.

ive fished burrows lake (the old stock pond) and had a few fish out biggest has been around 14 lb and that was around the begginnin of febuary. ive also had a few more out over april but again around 8-10 lb.

ive tried doin short day sessions on the bigger lake(think its called pollard from what ive been told) with no luck. i was just wonderin wot sort of approach you need to catch out of that lake. i know that most anglers favour the car park side, up the right path as you come through the gate. and then drop down into one of those swims.

ive tried those swims with my usual rigs and small beds of bait (often pva bags) but hav had nothing not even liners. ive spoken with other anglers who do well there and they say aslong as you put down a larger bed of bait you will catch.

is this the case? wot sort of approaches are people using? and is it better to do a night rather than the days?

ive been using the cell for a while now and i realy dont think i should change if im catchin on them. the rigs im using are either pop-ups or snowman set-ups with smaller 1.5 oz leads on clips and have worked fine on the other lakes.

i really dont know whats happenin but any info in general about location, techniques or tactics would be greatly appreicated

sorry for the essay guys haha

cheers

There are four lakes at KAPS Snodland and I fished them for many years.

The Burrows Lake (Stock Pond) has some nice fish in it and does not get the pressure of the other two smaller lakes (Rugby and Pads) .

Rugby and Pads are considered "hard" waters, but mainly due to their smaller size and the pressure they get.

Pollard fishes well all year round and I would suggest you forget the "fill it in" comments regarding feeding.

You should catch well from all the swims, but the ones on the carpark side and dam end are popular, because they are so convenient to fish.

Try the swims on the village side and fish in the margins with slack lines, boilies and the method work very well on Pollard and Burrows.

Re: KAPS Snodland

Have a word with Pete the Tiler, or any of the bailiifs on the venue they should be able to give you all of the latest gen. Have you also considerd fishing the main lake at Hoo?

I did quite well on the Pollard a few years ago (10? )

Method feeder and red maggots, about 8 on a No 6 hook and 4" hooklink. Mostly fished very close in on the marginal slope. Did well on the LH side where the slope goes down to about 18ft or more was consistently successful. I cast along the side and fished about half way down the slope. Also worked well on the "road end" fishing a few yards out.

Had a few good sessions off the top as well :) Had 12 fish between 17 and 25 in one evening session.

I have heard some good things about the Pollard recently :secret:
