Almost ready for a long overdue fishing session

As some of you might remember from previous posts, it's been a while since I last went fishing. Well I'm finally ready for my first days fishing, which if my boss let's me have time off, will be a 2 day stint on the 16th June (if the weather stays like this and I get time I might nip down our local pond for an evening before then). To say I'm chomping at the bit would be an understatement!!

I've got my licence and have joined the Nottingham Anglers Association and will be fishing at Bestwood Duck Ponds as this is only 2 miles from home. I'm going to go on the No 1 Pond as the information about it on their site suggests it is right up my street (see above link). I'm intending to go prepared with a float or feeder set-up and will probably take sweetcorn, pellets, bread, maggots, casters, worms, hemp and some cereal groundbait (this is the only groundbait that is allowed).

Sorry for the long post, but I could really use some advice from you guys on if you think my approach is sound and/or any tactics/baits that you'd recommend. I did think about boilies, but having never fished them before I'm not sure where to begin; I'm probably going to have the same problem with pellets!!

Many thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom and tight lines!

I'm hoping that the lack of replies means I'm on the right track!

Actually I suspect that nobody has read it who fishes there. Those of you who don't, looking at the information about the venue, does what I've said sound about right?

Cheers

hi mate don't know your venue but your approach seems about right to me although if i was going to a pond in the middle of june i might not bother with maggots as you may be pestered by suicidal rudd. i would fish near lilly pads for tench etc. i have taken a liking to mini bolies 8 mil so as to put off small rudd. tight lines.

take a look at my blog
