Any dragonfly experts out there, I'm stuck on these two; could be male and female of the same species.

I think you're right. I found some more pics here of two female forms of Large Red Damselfly which match my pics, only problem I do have is the size, they should only be 36mm long apparently but these were nearly twice that size.
