Drennan Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 12'

Sparkeh

Recommended Posts

Mine would bottom out with a 4lb bream; it lacked control, no torque, no back bone, just all floppy.

I have to agree with Tigger, I don't much like mine, however this is mainly as it has too much backbone!

Apart from the carp, what else do you want to use it for?

There is also Tench and Barble in the lakes :) Roach aswell :)

To be honest... Its either the Drennan or the John Wilson, but ive heard the John Wilson can have reel seat issues and its a cheaper rod (£30 cheap in some places), that seems to be the main problem with them, when ive not really heard any problems about the Drennan.

I use mine almost exclusively for river perch and chub, if that helps. I've tried and (so far) failed to catch a tench on it, so I don't know what it's like with a more powerful fish on the other end.

All you can do really is give both of them a waggle in a shop and see which suits you best.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I would imagine it would make an exciting chub rod at close range, at medium to long range one needs the sweeping action of a samurai to make contact, even with braid. :D

Agreed, it'd be no use at long range. The eyes are too small to cast that far in any case!

I don't know what you men call fishing at long range but I use a Normark avenger to hit chub at 50 to 60 yards away whilst trotting and i'm pretty sure I could do it with the series 7 as it's way stiffer...........I reckon I could pull a chubs lips of at 60 yards if I wanted to !
